It is basically a rod with a spherical ball and five spikes. This brass copper lightning arrester costs less than copper lightning arrester and the coating of copper also enhances the conductivity. It offers a coverage of 45 degrees and catches the strike of lightning within 3 meters. The coverage area can be increased by increasing the length of the lightning arrester.
